How to Get to the Superdome & Where to Park

The Superdome is located in downtown New Orleans in the Central Business District right off of Poydras Street. There are seven parking garages for public parking (in addition to those with special Saints passes) so there is a lot of parking – so long as you carpool. These parking garages are adjacent to the Dome and are designated #1, 1A, 2, 2A, 5 & 6. You cannot park overnight, so if you plan to drink at the games, consider other modes of transportation for both your safety and so you don’t have your car towed.

Special Parking Advisory: The I-10 West on-ramp from West Stadium Dr. (West side of the Dome) is currently closed due to construction. When leaving the games, please take caution.

There were a number of pay lots around the CBD, but some have been removed due to development of the South Market District and other construction project. Therefore, you are strongly advised to find alternative transportation. New Orleans is now an Uber-city, so you should consider calling Uber or a taxi-cab, or you can always take the RTA Streetcar or Bus depending on your location.

There are bike racks at the Superdome! They are located in Lot 3 and can be accessed through the pedestrian gates at the corner of Dave Dixon Drive and LeRouge Street.

Important Notes About Visiting the Superdome

NFL Bag Policy

There are a few important notes to remember if you are going to a Saints game at the Superdome. One of the most important things to be reminded of is the NFL Bag Policy. This states that you are not allowed to bring any bag into the stadium that is larger than your palm (4.5″x6.5″) unless it is a clear vinyl bag (limited to 12″x12″x6″). There are places around town where you can purchase these special clear bags. If you do not comply with this rule, security will tell you to bring your bag to your car, or you will have to leave it at the gate. The likelihood that it is still there when you leave the game is low so I advise you follow this policy.

Prohibited Items

This is your reminder that in addition to large non-clear bags the following items are prohibited from entering the stadium:

  • Contraband
  • Glass
  • Outside food & drink
  • Projectiles
  • Weapons of any kind
  • Sticks, bats, poles, including selfie sticks
  • Fireworks
  • Video and audio recording devices
  • Glitter

If you are caught with any of these items, you will be asked to return it to your vehicle. If you are caught with contraband, security will confiscate it and they may decide not to let you in. So, do not bring any drugs or paraphernalia with you to a Saints game!

Superdome Ejection Policy

Please be aware that security at the Superdome has the right to eject you from a Saints game for certain behaviors or activities, such as:

  • Use of profanity
  • Possession of illegal items such as drugs
  • Public intoxication
  • Entering or attempting to enter “off limit” areas
  • Participating in a fight or physical altercation
  • Throwing objects onto the field or in the stands
  • Smoking indoors
  • Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans

Detained or Arrested at a Saints Game

If you find yourself in trouble with security or law enforcement while attending a Saints game in New Orleans, or before or after the game, you should remember your rights and consult with a criminal defense lawyer who is experienced in these types of arrests. Whether you find yourself arrested for underage drinking, drug crimes, disturbing the peace, assault or even if you are charged with DWI before or after the game, you should call a lawyer. Crescent City Law has worked with many individuals who have been arrested at the Dome and offers a $500 Flat Rate Fee for a number of different crimes (you can see them listed here). Crescent City Law is available nights, weekends and off-site and you can contact them by clicking here or calling (504) 264-9492 for your free initial consultation.
