I am often asked how to pay tickets received in 2nd Parish Courthouse for the Parish of Jefferson, which is in Gretna, Louisiana. Tickets issued by the State Police or Jefferson Parish’s Sheriff’s Office on the Westbank in Jefferson Parish are heard before the judges in Gretna, Louisiana at the courthouse located on Huey P Long Avenue near the Gretna Ferry Station.
After referring many people to the clerk’s office for the answer, I finally called to get the answer for myself. Below are the options for payment.
According to the 2nd Parish Court, there are three options for payment:
You can pay your ticket in person inside Jefferson Parish 2nd Parish Court at window for the Sheriff’s Office. The address is 100 Huey P. Long Avenue in Gretna, Louisiana 70053. They can be reached by phone at (504) 364-2929. Please note that cellular phones are not allowed inside the building.
Payments by mail are accepted when made using a certified check or money order. The payment should be mailed to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office at 100 Huey P Long Avenue in Gretna, Louisiana 70053. Remember to include your case number (which will start with the letter “S”) on the check or send a copy of the Fee and Fine Slip.
If you would like confirmation of the payment from the Sheriff’s Office, you should include Self-Addressed Stamped envelope so they can send your receipt back.
The mailing address for Traffic Court is:
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office
100 Huey P Long Avenue
Gretna, Louisiana 70053
I strongly advise using some form of tracking number for any payment sent through the mail like USPS certified mail or UPS/FEDex tracking services.
You can pay tickets for online at: https://eservices.jpso.com/PayTickets/
Online payments for tickets in Gretna require you to have the last name of the person who received the ticket, either the ticket number (which is on the top of your traffic ticket) or case number for the ticket, the first name of the person who received the ticket, and the date of birth of the person who received the ticket. Please note that JPSO assesses a 2.49% convenience fee for credit/debit card payments, but you can avoid this fee when you pay with a checking account.
Second Parish Court does not accept payments over the phone.
ⓘ Always remember to include your ticket number on your check. The ticket number is the best way for the Clerk’s Office to know which ticket to apply your payment to.
It’s possible to get a speeding ticket reduced from a moving violation to a non-moving violation. Sometimes it’s possible to get the ticket dismissed or into Diversion in Gretna. As your traffic ticket lawyer, I will represent your case in court and aggressively fight to get your ticket reduced or dismissed.
