It’s a normal Friday night. You and your best friends are all getting together to prepare for a night on the town. Before going out, one friend asks, “Anyone wanna buy some pot with me?” You and a few other join in on the deal, call your dealer, and light-up to get yourselves in the mood before going out. At the end of the night, it time to go home. You go home. Go to sleep. Wake up the next day and go about your business.
Then you receive a phone call police. Justin, one of the guys you bought with, was involved in a car accident. He has died. The police would like to question you about the night before.
Think it couldn’t happen to you? Think again. At the beginning of January, a federal judge in New Orleans sentenced Gary Toca to 10 years for just the situation above. Gary and his friends went in together on some pretty heavy drugs. They had a great time together, but the next day one of his friends didn’t wake up. As a result, Gary was convicted for supplying heroine to his friend and received 10 years in federal prison.
First of all, I don’t condone the use of drugs in any situation. Second, if you’re going to do any sort of drugs with your friends, legal or illegal, please be safe. Finally, if you or one of your friends is facing drug related charge, please do not hesitate to contact me.
